My friend Adriana just alerted me to another food blog, The Amateur Gourmet, where a friend has been blogsitting and wrote a bit about baking a cake inspired by WWII rations. Not as tedious as it sounds–there’s even a little dressing up in period costume for the photos. Classy.

Ooh, except I just read the bit where he likes Amanda Hesser’s heinous Cooking with Mr. Latte book (intentionally no Amazon link–please don’t contribute to the Hesser empire). Which could just as well have been called Being a Pretentious Shrew to a Guy Whose Main Fault Is Bad Taste in Coffee…and Women. Note to all male Hesser groupies: She’s not as cute in person as she is in those illustrations.
