Aksu Honey Fruit

You know when you make a piece of toast, and you’re buttering it, and you’re thinking, “Should I put jam on this, or honey?”

Leave it to the Turks to solve this morning dilemma.

Best. Product. Ever.:

Nom.
Nom.

Why didn’t I think of that?! Best of all, it’s sour cherry, which happens to be the only word I know in Turkish (visne), because everything sour cherry is delicious there.

What’s especially intriguing about this product is that it came with a little tag around the neck of the jar that said something to the effect of, “Moms–do you have the problem where your kids won’t eat their life-giving and fortifying honey because it’s too bitter? Worry no more! Honey fruit is here!”

If honey is bitter in Turkey, I’m not sure I’m strong enough to handle whatever they consider sweet.

Sad ending to the story, though:

Nooooo!
Nooooo!

We’re all out!

Don’t tell the Greeks who are still mad about Smyrna, but you can get it at the Greek House on 30th Avenue. I’m going today, because breakfast has been very difficult without it.
