Since we’re on a little bit of a ‘cue tip (I crack myself up), here’s a link to Timothy C. Davis, a witty southerner who knows more about the subject than me (and makes better jokes about it too). Mostly his site points back to his eGullet articles, which I’ve been reading and liking but not realizing they’re all by the same person, but he also did a good ‘cue story for Gastronomica (a fantastic food journal that caters to the Asperger’s Syndrome-afflicted who care to know about medieval spit-roasting machines and the diets of sumo wrestlers and Yucatecan chefs).

Plus, I’m a sucker for any high-minded essay about pot (there’s another good one in Michael Pollan’s Botany of Desire). Aw heck, even low-minded ones.
